Happy Half Year, Savannah!

Today was a big day for our little family. With it being Savannah's half-year birthday, we got to start feeding her baby food! I've waited until Savannah turned 6 months old to give her baby food for several reasons, but today was the big day. I have been so excited about starting her on baby food and have been anxiously awaiting this day!! I did a lot of research about what age to start solid food, what type of food to begin with and how to go about making it part of her daily feeding. Because Savannah has been on a breast milk diet until now, I decided to just start with baby cereal. Baby oatmeal to be specific.
She was very interested in this new "thing" and really wanted to help me. She wanted to put her hand in the bowl and grab the spoon. Then, once she got the spoon in her mouth, she was more interested in just chewing on it rather than swallowing the cereal. She didn't seem to love it at first, but after a few tries, she was able to eat some of it. Enjoy the pictures and her facial expressions!






As in a previous post, the other big news about this little girl is that she isn't so little any more! She is able to sit up for long periods of time, unassisted, and she loves it!! Here are some of the other things that have taken place during the past month:
- she weighs: 15 pounds, 1 ounce
- while laying on her belly, she puts her knees under her booty as if she's about to crawl.
- she is able to put her paci in her mouth and she reaches for it when she wants it.
- she is really teething...she chews on everything!!! And everything she can get her hands on, goes directly into her mouth!
- she has discovered her head and ears and rubs them in a soothing type way.
- she is constantly looking around, watching people, curious to see what is going on!
- she naps well during the day (2-3 hours) and typically sleeps from about 8pm - 8am, only waking up once to eat (usually between 4 and 5).
- she gives us hugs...and might I add they are the sweetest hugs EVER!
- she reaches out when she wants to be picked up.
- she has just started pulling her head up when she's laying on her back, as if she's trying to get up.

Savannah just gets more and more precious each day! I can't believe how fast these first 6 months of her life have flown by, but I know that with each passing day, I love her more and more! Thank you, God, for blessing us with the most wonderful gift ever!!
