The Braddock Bunch: "My Girls"

Our friends from Austin, Ditto {yes, that's a nickname, but he goes by it} and Kris, came into town to visit some of our mutual friends. They have two little girls, Lynden who is just 8 days younger than Savannah and Lanna who turned one at the beginning of this month. Unfortunately, we don't get to see Ditto and Kris nearly as often as we would like, so we were super excited to hear they would be staying the weekend with our local friends, James and Barb. We were invited over for dinner and to just visit while Ditto and Kris were in town. James and Barb also have two children. Maddie turned 2 in October and their son Brayden was born in August last year.

When we told Savannah that we were going to see some friends, she was excited {even though she's only seen Lynden once and Maddie a few times}. She kept referring to them as "my girls". I have no idea why, but it was the funniest thing ever. She woke up this morning saying, "We going to see my girls today?" Then later, while playing with Lynden and Maddie, if she couldn't find them she would say "Where my girls at?"

For those of you who are around Savannah much at all, you know how shy she is. If she is around people she does not know really well, she hides her face and/or hugs my leg trying to avoid any eye contact or communication with the "stranger". A lot of the time it wears me out. I don't understand why she won't just run and play with the other children her age {when we're at play dates or a friend's house}. And it's not that she does this for the first 10-15 minutes, she'll act this way for hours! Fortunately, this wasn't the case with Lynden and Maddie. It only took her an acceptable 10-15 minutes to "warm up" and then she was OFF!

Those three girls ran around playing and giggling as if they were sisters. Singing, dancing, hiding, running and just having the best time together! It really made me wish there was 1 or 2 girls Savannah's age that we played with on a regular basis.
