I booked a cabin, different from last year, about two months in advance and I was super excited about how big and nice it looked. Caleb parents ended up not being able to go {bummer!}, so it ended up just being my family. Between my siblings, spouses, significant others and the babies, there was a total of 16 who went. We all made the 3 hour drive up to Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

This covered eating area with fire place was just about 20 feet from the cabin.
Once the vehicles were unloaded, we made a shopping list for food and then Emily, Joy and I headed to the store. We got enough food to feed the group for the weekend and then let the guys grill burgers for dinner when we got back to the cabin. The rest of the evening we just relaxed watching movies and playing games.
Saturday morning, Caleb, Jason and my dad went out to play a round of golf and were back for lunch. That afternoon, the girls of the group {Abby, Emily, Joy and myself} planned to go horse back riding. My mom planned to go and stay with Savannah at the "petting zoo". Well, this "girls trip" quickly turned into almost-everyone-in-the-house going. But that's okay, because we had a really good time with everyone!
It was a 30 minute drive from the cabin to the horse riding place. The skies were overcast and it sprinkled a little on our drive there. The temperature was in the low 50's, but we were determined to have fun! When we pulled up, we saw so many animals at the "petting zoo" {just the animals that the lady owned for herself, really}. Peacocks, goats, a donkey, pigs and others. They lady who owned the place and was the guide for our ride, was so nice and even prayed for our group and safety before we got going.

By the time we were all on a horse, it was really starting to rain steadily and that made me even more cold. But we rode on down the hill, through the trees, across a creek and in the pasture. It was an hour long ride and it rained off and on for 30-40 minutes of that hour. About half way through our trail ride, we made a pass back through where mom and Savannah were so we got to wave and say "hi". By the time we finished, we were all more than ready to be back at the cabin in warm, dry clothes. Savannah had a great time with my mom just looking at all the animals.
I was even able to convince Savannah to sit on the horse with me for just a minute.

We spent the evening relaxing around the cabin again. I actually feel asleep rather early and I think most people went to bed earlier than normal.

In the morning, check out time was 11:00, so we ate, dressed, packed and then cleaned the place before getting back on the road to head home. It's a rather quick trip, but it's just enough time away to do something with the family and just hanging out. I hope we are all able to go again next year!
