July 4th Fun

Caleb's good friend, Bryan, was selling his boat {a yacht} the week after July 4th. He asked us and our mutual friends, James and Barb, to come out to the lake on July 4th for one last day of fun. The summer before we got pregnant with Savannah, we had spent almost every weekend on the lake with Bryan and his wife, Jennifer. Since that summer, we have maybe been out to the lake 5 times, so we were excited to spend the day out there once again.

My parents were more than willing to let our kids spend the day with them, so we took Savannah and Hudson over there around lunch time and then we headed out to the lake. We stayed out at the lake until dinner time and then picked up the kids. We rushed home to shower and then went to watch our town's firework show.
We were told it would start at 8:30, but we knew it would be nowhere near dark enough then. Jason, Joy and Keifer met us out there, as well as Savannah's friend, Ranly and her parents. 

Although we left the house after their normal 8:00 bedtime, once they were outside with their friends, they were all running around like wild kids! They were having so much fun together, thank goodness because the fireworks didn't start until after 9:30. 

It was a good show and the kids really enjoyed it, but poor Hudson was ready for bed about half way through. He finally grabbed his paci and giraffe and just laid down.

It was a fun, but long and late day.
