Hudson is ONE!

I'm slightly in denial that this is true. Not so much because I don't want him to grow up, but more because this first year of his life has seriously gone by so fast. Cliche, I know. But still true.

 
12 Month Stats:
Weight: 24 pounds, 15.5 ounces {66th percentile}
Clothing size: Pants - 9/12 months, shirts - 18 months

As you can see, he hangs off the baby scale too much...

.....so he got to sit up instead. And how do you like that 'farmers tan' that he has? =)

Sleeping Habits:
He is sleeping great! Still two naps a day (yay!), 10:30-12:00 and 3:00-4:30/5. He goes to bed between 8 and 8:30 at night and sleeps 12-13 hours. 

 

 

Developmental:

Well, the biggest developmental change is that Hudson is walking! As of today, his birthday, he walks about 90% of the time. And there isn't anything much cuter than a new little (chubby) walker toddling around! I love it! He has also had his 4 top front teeth break through the gums. He handled teething pretty well (no signs of it, really). He claps his hands and is SO proud of himself. It is too cute! He is finally eating much more table foods, which helps at meal times. I also weaned him from nursing this past week, but I still had enough frozen breast milk to last past his first birthday. Once that is gone, he will be drinking raw goats milk {just like Savannah has always done} or water.

 

In my last post, I mentioned Hudson's birthday book and how I wrote a special letter for the inside of that book. I'm including that letter in this post so that in the terrible event the book is forever gone, we'll always have this letter to my sweet boy on his first birthday. 

To our handsome boy Hudson,

You entered this world as a very healthy baby, weighing in at eight pounds even, one year ago. We can remember the events of that day as if it were yesterday. We were excited to become a family of four, but uncertain of all the changes it would bring. Now, a year later and weighing a whopping 24+ pounds, we are certain that our hearts have grown a thousand times bigger in order to hold the love that we have for you.

It didn't take long before you become more alert and interactive. You've gone from the sweet baby coos, to silly giggles to saying a few words. Since you started to move and crawl, you've never slowed down. In fact, you are now walking and prefer it over crawling in most cases. Clapping your hands is also one of your favorite things to do and the excitement on your face while you clap is priceless. Your favorite toys are balls (which is why it is your birthday party theme) and you really like books, too. You love, love, LOVE to be outside! When it's time to come in, it's not always a happy time. You  also really like to GO. It doesn't matter where, when or with who, but if someone is leaving the house, you want to GO! Bath time and pool time are some of your favorite times of the day and I'm sure we'll be doing extra of them both this summer.

Your personality is SO much fun! We think you'll be keeping your friends and family laughing a lot in the years to come. You are much more daring and adventurous than your sister has even been which keep us on our toes constantly. You're really tough and it takes a lot for you to cry, but your rough and tough personality is perfectly softened when you crawl into our laps to cuddle and burrow in our arms. You really have a way of melting our hearts! A sweet look from your deep blue eyes and the little dimples in your chubby cheeks when you smile are like icing on the cake.

Watching you with your big sister Savannah, is the best thing ever! She has loved you so much from the moment she first met you. Always there to love on you and help take care of you, she is like a little mommy to you. And we can see how much you love her, too! The way your face lights up when you see her is the most wonderful thing. You have fun playing with her, you love on her daily and try to do the things she does. You can make each other laugh like no one else can and the bond between you two is already so deep. You are so blessed with such an amazing big sister and it's no secret that she thinks you are the best little brother there could be! I'm excited to see your brother-sister friendship grow even deeper.

We are so thankful that God blessed us with another happy and healthy baby. The love and joy that you have brought into our family in one short year is unmeasurable. We pray for you daily and hope you always know how loved you are. Not only by us, but most importantly, how loved you are by God. You have already surpassed so many of our hopes and dreams and the depth of our love for you grows by the second. We are so honored and proud to be chosen as your parents!
