We made a quick trip down to Austin this weekend for Caleb to meet with some of his chiropractor buddies and for us to see some of our good friends. We left at lunch on Friday and Savannah was such a trooper for the nearly 4 hour drive. It did help having the portable dvd player and several Curious George movies considering she only slept for about 45 minutes of the drive.
We came into north Austin just in time for dinner and that's where we met with a few friends. The restaurant we ate at was The Oasis and had an amazing view of Lake Travis. We were there at the perfect time to get a window seat and be able to watch the sunset as we ate.
The scenery and houses around the lake were amazing!
Savannah was having a pretty good time being goofy, too!
After dinner, we headed over to the hotel to get our little munchkin in bed. The long drive and short nap were starting to catch up with her, so it wasn't too hard getting her down for the night.
The following morning, Caleb got up early to go out for breakfast and get started with all of the chiropractic talk he and his friends had planned. Savannah slept until about 8:00 and we took our time getting ready and got to enjoy the continental breakfast courtesy of the hotel. :)
Our friends, Ditto and Kris live in Austin with their two precious girls, Lynden and Lanna. Ditto and Caleb went to chiropractic school together and became great friends. In 2008, Kris and I learned that we were both pregnant for the first time and due just days apart. Lynden was born just 8 days after Savannah and baby Lanna joined their family on January 2, this year.
While Caleb and Ditto met with a few other friends, Savannah and I got to spend most of the day with Kris and her girls at her house. We got to meet miss Lanna for the first time and as always, Savannah just loved being around a baby!
Savannah was her normal shy self for the first little while, but once she warmed up, she and Lynden had a BLAST together!
They ate lunch together...
Raced their "cars" around the house together...
Looked out the window at the dogs together...
Looked at the baby together...
Tried sitting still long enough for a picture together...
Were trying to "run away" together...
And even sat in a car seat together!
I'm sure they would be the best of friends if they lived near each other. Hopefully, they will be able to see each other several times a year and maybe develop a long distance friendship once they are older. We just love our sweet friends Ditto and Kris and look forward to seeing them again soon!
We ended our time in Austin with an early dinner with the group of friends and made our way home. Savannah did just as well on the way home as on the way there, but we were all glad to sleep in our own beds that night.
