Saturday Outing

With the kids being sick for the first few days of our Christmas break and then having icy roads the day after Christmas, we had seen enough of the inside of our house. The kids {and Caleb} were starting to get a little cabin fever and we needed to get away for a change of scenery.

Hudson’s hair was also getting a little shaggy {I had made an appointment to get it cut the Friday before Christmas, but sickness made us cancel that} so I made an appointment first thing Saturday morning for his second hair cut.

We were up and out of the house just a little after 8:30 Saturday morning {we have NEVER all been out of the house that early!} for a quick breakfast at the donut shop. The kids have had donuts on several occasions, but we usually go through the drive thru. Hudson was in heaven seeing so many donuts! 

We left the donut shop and headed to get Hudson’s hair cut. The hair growing over his ears was just a little too much for me. Actually, it was driving me crazy!! I was so glad to get his hair cut, even if it “aged him six months” as Caleb said afterwards. He sat just as well for this hair cut as he did for his first hair cut.

 

We then went shoe shopping for Hudson. The poor boy only has two pair of shoes and I know that were getting too small. One pair was a size 5.5 and the other was a size 6. We had his foot measured when we got to the shoe store and his foot was measuring right at a 7! So, we bought him two new pairs of shoes, size 7.5. This boy has some big feet! Savannah only wears a size 8.

We ended our morning outing with lunch. Hudson is really into using a fork or spoon to feed himself {rarely will use his hands any more}.

Days like this are so much fun to me! I'm so thankful for the simple things we get to enjoy together as a family.
